Hurn Court Opera Prizewinners’ Recital
Sunday 17th September 2023, 4:00 pm - 5:45 pm
| £20
Two great favourites of Hurn Court Opera return for this year’s Prizewinners’ Recital. Soprano Marie Cayeux won both the Rosalind Armstrong Prize and the Anthony Lowrey Audience Prize in 2022, and Michael Lafferty, baritone, received the Second Prize in our inaugural 2018 competition.
They are joined by award-winning pianist, JongSun Woo, who most recently accompanied baritone Felix Gygli, winner of the Ferrier Awards 2023 at the Wigmore Hall.
Since their competition successes, the careers of Marie and Michael have moved on apace. This summer Michael has made his debut at the Glyndebourne Festival in the role of Officer in Poulenc’s Dialogue des Carmélites and Marie is part of the Chorus of the Bayreuth Festival.
In their two-part programme for this recital, the artists take you from the poetry and intimacy of art song repertoire to arias and duets of grand opera. Well-loved and less familiar music intertwine on a journey of vocal beauty and tenderness.
Tickets £20; under-18s and in full-time education-free
